Wake County Teacher needs a double transplant

Wake County teacher needs a double transplant! DJ (Laurance Dean) Nichols is a local 7th grade social studies teacher, Father to a beautiful 13 year daughter (Abigail) and Husband to his long time love Megan. DJ started having heart complications about 6 years ago. Over the past two years it has progressively gotten worse, after two heart surgeries DJ is still in heart failure. Recently the drs told DJ he needed a transplant. The news was hard to except but the family was ready for DJ to feel better and excited for a fresh start. Last week DJ started to decline and was admitted to Duke University Hospital where he had another surgery to help keep him stable till they found him a donor heart. Unfortunately just a few hours after surgery DJ started having complications. His kidney lost too much blood supply and oxygen and the kidney sadly died. Now DJ’s liver is struggling as well. Last night DJ again ran into some complications and was taken back in the middle of the night for emergency surgery. DJ now is in need of a heart and kidney transplant. 

DJ is the families main provider and will inevitably be out of work for possibly several months to come leaving the family struggling to get by. Megan works for the school district as well and will be by her loves side as he embarks on this long journey ahead.
