Our Students NEED to see this Black Panther! Our students need to see themselves!
Our alternative school serves some of the most underprivileged students in New Orleans. Our students can not afford the extra time or money to see Black Panther. Most of our students are parents with full time or part time jobs with a series of other responsibilities. Thus, during school hours will be the only opportunity for students to engage in such a priceless experience for free with appropriate transportation. 30 of our students will be going to see Black Panther as winners of an academic contest. Sadly, 300 of our other students will NOT see the movie due to students' economic struggles but we can change that! Support our students! Why should Black Panther be a privilege? Help me make it a GIFT!
In addition, students will engage in a Wakanda thematic unit that addresses Black Panther analytically and symbolically. Our young people will enrich their understanding of western civilization and how it has impacted African Americans to determine their next steps to better our world.
