Help Mom Start Again

Donation protected
This is my Mom.
She's just lost her beloved home and all possessions in the Sonoma County Glass Fire. As the retiree (of the infamous Disguise the Limit), she won't be able to recoup her belongings, car, or any of the family heirlooms she's lost with out some assistance. Her immediate needs are of concern but rebuilding her life longterm will take some doing. It's hard to ask for help, but any given here will not go to waste.

Mom is awesome. Her name is Ishvahni LeClair.
She was born in Vincennes, Indiana and was expelled from High School for wearing striped socks.  She moved to Sausalito to become a bonafide hippie and then to Santa Rosa, CA to raise two children, my sister and I, and to help establish the local costume shop 'Disguise The Limit'. She has carved a beautiful life within her community and as a dedicated volunteer of the Mounted Assistance Unit, providing protection and rescue in the local state parks. She's called Sonoma County her home for over forty years and is known as a source of inspiration and happiness.

On the night of September 27th she evacuated her modest country home of 22 years with only her beloved mule Sis, her old dog Frankie and the clothes on her back. Chased by the blaze she spent all night watching fire maps and listening to the radio, hoping against hope, but late the next day realized the worst, that her home and "nest" were gone forever. The good folks of the fire department fought the larger fire bravely, but in the dead of night and against the speed and ferocity of the flames there was little they could do to save one house on the hill.

She's deeply humbled and grateful to be alive and to have her special animal friends near, but the loss is devastating.

She lived simply and modestly on a tightly fixed income and without any renters insurance to back her up. Her immediate needs are clear and being taken care of but rebuilding her life in the long term will require a lot of help.  Old friends and new have already begun the search for a new place to live and have even found a temporary home for Sis (Cecilia B. DeMule) until Mom can get back on her feet and back in the saddle. Looking into the future it's going to take a group effort to provide her with what she needs in the longterm.

To say these are tough times for everyone is an understatement, but, if you have anything spare it would not go to waste here.  She is famously reluctant to accept even the smallest help, a cowgirl to the last. "Its very difficult for me because I like to be the one who helps." she told me.  But she knows that she's not gonna make it without a little help from her friends and agreed to let me create this page on her behalf.

She's the strongest, bravest, kindest and most beautiful person I know. I love my Mom so much. My dear and wonderful Mother.

Thank you to all those who have already given. There aren't words to shape our gratitude.

With a Great Love and Gratitude, Thank You
