Alex's Deep Brain Stimulation STN

Hello to all family and friends, I am initiating this campaign on behalf of my older brother Alex Groves. Alex was diagnosed at the young age of 47 with Parkinsons Disease. He has faced this disease with incredable courage and at times humour. Alex is on a daily regime of four different medications totalling 28 pills. At this point he has reached his daily limit of pills and he is not getting the effect from them that he needs. Plus he requires medication for diabetes, blood pressure, kidney problems and acid reflux. Alex's life consists of tremors, stiffness, impaired balance plus difficulty moving in bed, swallowing, low speech and slow movements. The only option for a better quality of life and reduced medication is Deep Brain Stimulation STN. In order to receive this hopeful surgery Alex has been ordered to begin cutting back on his daily meds which is causing him a lot of discomfort. When that is complete he will have to travel to Toronto and will have to remain there for twelve weeks. The cost for air fare, rent, food, transportation and miscellaneous will be approximately $15,000.00.  Alex is anxious and excited to get his surgery and says he would be more than happy and grateful to reach a goal of $8000.00.
