HELP SAVE BABY WINSTON - ANYTHING HELPS! $5, $10, $20

I am writing this GoFundMe because I don’t know what else to do. I know it’s the path I chose, but for the last two years I have spent 12-24 hours in the ER/ICUs of human hospitals most days of the week. Medical residency is hard to explain, and the level of stress and emotional drain is something that can't be put into words. My world, my constant, my saving grace has been coming home to my two 1 and a half-year old rescue cats, Jasper and Winston.

Recently, a good friend of mine had appendicitis and stayed at my apartment while she recovered. She received a bouquet of “Get Well Soon” Lilies (ironically), which I placed on my table. A week later Winston started showing signs that he was incredibly sick. Turns out, he ingested some of the Lily pollen and they are incredibly poisonous to cats. It caused acute kidney failure and has been in the ICU for the last 6 days. It looks like he will need dialysis to buy us time for his kidneys to heal.

I did not get pet insurance although it had been on my “to do list” since rescuing him last year. I didn’t know the costs would be this high and I just can’t let him go for my mistake of putting flowers in the house. I have spent $10,000 thus far. Dialysis will require approximately 2 weeks at $20,000 per week. I will max out my credit cards before I let Winston die, but am hoping this might help a little with whatever is needed to save him.

Right now in residency, we do not make much money especially relative to Los Angeles cost of living. However when I graduate in two years and have a better salary – I vow to donate the same amount of money raised, to another animal-directed charitable cause or animal in crisis. Jasper and I would be grateful for any support in helping to save Winston. I didn’t know the costs would be this high and I can’t let him go.
