Light Rapid Transit

Donation protected
Four years ago, as writer Shelby Satterthwaite was getting off the Skytrain, a man stopped her on the stairs and gave her a bouquet of flowers, explaining that he couldn’t bring them home because his wife was allergic. His only request was that she share them with anyone she might cross paths with. So she did.

This random act of generosity evolved into Light Rapid Transit, a multi-narrative play premiering in May at the rEvolver Festival . Co-produced by Coffeehouse Theatre and Shelby Satterthwaite, Light Rapid Transit is directed by Carly Pokoradi and features a phenomenally talented cast and crew. Tickets are available now through the Cultch !

We are humbly asking for donations to cover the costs of staging LRT. Donations will be used to help cover costs of set pieces, hiring a fight choreographer, props, and a rehearsal space. Anything past our goal of $1,000 will be put DIRECTLY towards honorariums for our artists. We strongly believe in adequately compensating our artists for their tireless efforts on this show. Many of them have been involved for upwards of 2 years, and while we have already committed to a profit-share model for our team, we hope to offer all of our artists a little more on top of that.

A show dedicated to strangers.
(Specifically, the man with the flowers on the stairs of Bridgeport station. Thank you.)
