Mission trip to Lima, Peru

Hello family and friends,
We want to share with you the great opportunity we have to be part of the Great Commission! A few of us from the Career Group of Palmetto Baptist Church will be partnering with an urban church plant in downtown Lima, Peru, during Christmas break—December 21 to January 1.
The urban church plant Iglesia Bautista Gracia (Grace Baptist Church) is an initiative of EMU missionaries Tim and Cheryl Chapman. Tim began the church two years ago with a core group of believers, and God has brought them many more people who were looking for the truth and a solid home church.
We believe that this short-term mission trip allows us to give, to learn, and to serve for the sake of the gospel.
Give. We have committed to use as much of our personal resources as necessary to make this trip possible. We know it will also be a sacrifice to leave our families over the holidays, but we’ve already seen God working to assure us that this was the right choice!
Learn. We are eager to learn more about how God is growing His Church in Lima, Peru. As veteran missionaries, the Chapmans will be helping us to think biblically and strategically about missions in South America. Each of us is praying that this trip will be a gateway into more missions endeavors.
Serve. We plan to pass out hundreds of church invitations, helping to make Gracia’s presence in the community known as a gospel-centered church in the midst of Catholicism and the growing charismatic and prosperity gospel movement. We plan to engage with young adults through English sessions and sports events and come alongside the church as they minister to an orphanage. We also want to encourage the church members and leadership as they grow as a young church.
Please pray with us as we give sacrificially and learn together through the planning process. Also, please pray that we will learn much during our time in Peru and that God will guide us in these great serving opportunities.
