Holly's Fight Against Cancer
As many of you may know, we recently received some devastating news about our wonderful friend Holly Burchett. In February of this year, Holly began experiencing rib pain which led to the discovery of a large mass in her upper abdomen in May. She was ultimately diagnosed with metastatic sarcoma in the Ewing sarcoma family of tumors, a rare form of cancer that has also spread to her pleura and bones.
If you’ve had the opportunity to spend any amount of time with Holly, you know that she is truly the most thoughtful, genuine, and beautiful person on the inside and out. She is a pediatrics resident in her third and final year of training and has dedicated her life to helping sick children and their families in their toughest times. She is a selfless and loyal friend, daughter, sister, wife to Hank, and dog-mom to their two goldens Otter and Ivan.
Hols recently began an aggressive chemotherapy regimen, which requires her to be hospitalized for 3-6 days at a time every 3 weeks. The team is also planning for a month of radiation and a potential debulking surgery after her chemo course is complete. Her mounting healthcare costs including possible future fertility treatments coupled with substantial medical school student loan debt represent a significant financial burden on Holly and Hank.
Due to the overwhelming desire of so many who have reached out to contribute and show their love, we’ve created this page as a platform for anyone who wishes to help support Holly and her family. Hopefully the proceeds will not only help to cover her ongoing medical costs, but will also allow her to enjoy some special time with her loved ones while she undergoes treatment.
