Help us Start Our Restaurant

Donation protected

I am a 30-year old American wife to a deliciously spicy chocolate Indian. We had met online a little over 2.5 years ago. My husband had moved to the USA in September of 2016). We liked each other instantly and decided to meet. Once we met, it was literally love at first sight (or first meeting, as we had talked online for about 1.5 weeks). We got married 3 months later (March 2018), although my husband has told me that he wanted to marry me one week after we met in person. Before we married we talked about the things we wished to do together, and one of our main aspirations was to start our own restaurant together to share our multi-generational recipes with everyone.

We are both from two separate cultures, both of us totally different, yet so very similar. We want to start a restaurant in which we serve fresh everything. We LOVE to cook! He loves to cook his Spicy Indian food (which both sides of our family frequently request), and I love to cook American dishes (my desserts and drinks are most often requested, even among our friends). We are going to combine them into the Indo-American Spice Belt Diner. We have all of our tried and true recipes ready to use. I have been trained to be a professional Food Safety Manager, as well as many years of cooking and refining our family's recipes.

I am currently working on the "front lines" at a Retail Store, resetting, and remodeling grocery aisles.

I have created an eBay store (https://www.ebay.com/usr/grandmabarbshomestore ) in which to sell some of our things, but it is difficult for me to keep up on as my husband is busy with trying to learn new things to find another job as well as selling food on the side, and for last few months, I have been working 50+ hours a week at my current job as we are so behind in labor force due to the pandemic that it is only me and one other lady doing everything at our store.

My husband has been in college for almost 10 years to become a professional Chemist. He has a Bachelor's and 2 Master's degrees in chemistry (he has studied in India as well as here in America). Recently due to COVID 19, my husband has lost his job and we are surviving on my meager paycheck. He has been unable to snag a job despite his education, so we have had to resort to other means of income. He has been trying to locate students to tutor for chemistry but we have had no luck in finding students, mostly due to Covid-19. My husband has also started a Youtube channel on which he teaches Advanced Chemistry, which you can watch on Youtube at Giridhar Raju's Advanced Chemistry (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAc5RkfntL9vWVUAM432K3w?view_as=subscriber ). We have made a side hustle of selling our drinks and food to our friends and family and they have admonished us, again and again, to start a restaurant to sell our goods. We were recommended to several sites to try to get funding to start our restaurant. This is one of those sites.

Our goal is to run a small Diner, in which we serve our handmade, fresh, culturally-diverse, authentic cookery. We love watching people enjoy our food, which fills us with purpose and heartfelt happiness. Food is a universal language that everyone understands and it creates a unifying effect among greatly differing people! We want a place that produces happiness and peace through acquainting different cultures, developing new relationships, and a full stomach.

We are requesting help in raising $50,000 to start our diner. We have nothing to start with but our fervent desire and love of people and food to start our restaurant. We are requesting this amount, as we will need a kitchen to start in. We have thought that we will start firstly with only taking carry out orders or delivery, so we will start with only a kitchen and eventually move onto a dining area. Things we may need include an oven, fridge, supplies for cleaning and making food, licensing, packaging for carryout orders, marketing and promoting, a website in which to refer our customers to, rent, and utilities for our kitchen. Our future goal is to become well known for our culinary delights, our pleasant spirit, and high-quality goods. Eventually, we wish to expand to dining-in, add more locations, and even sell our brand within retail stores. If you have a love for food and this sparks an interest for you, please donate to our future restaurant.

I love this site! I have read many people's pages for hours, some are fakes but most are genuine and this website is absolutely better than a charity! This is a real charity, with real people and real issues. The money goes directly to the people who need it and the donors get to choose who they donate too. This also shows that there are more people willing to help strangers than most people think. Love your neighbor as yourself, and your neighbor is not just the person next door or on your street or in your city...they are wherever you are at the time, in any country, any state, anywhere.
