Este año en CUMIS UCV queremos recorrer desde el oriente hasta el llano venezolano, realizando 5 jornadas, con el objetivo de ofrecer servicio médico-odontológico, atendiendo a las comunidades rurales más vulnerables. Dentro de la ruta se incluyen las zonas del Delta del Orinoco en el estado Delta Amacuro, Playa Colorada en el estado Sucre, Maniapure en el estado Bolívar, Araure en el estado Portuguesa y Caruao en el estado Vargas.
El Campamento Universitario Multidisciplinario de Investigación y Servicio (CUMIS) es una iniciativa promovida por sociedades educativas de diferentes universidades venezolanas relacionadas con las ciencias de la salud, la cual brinda a los estudiantes de diversas escuelas de Medicina y Odontología, la oportunidad de ayudar a las sociedades más necesitadas, a través de jornadas de servicio médico-odontológica. Estas persiguen, además de la investigación científica, funciones de diagnóstico, tratamiento y desparasitación. Así como también generar un impacto positivo que perdure en el tiempo en estas comunidades.
La crisis económica, social y de salud por la que atraviesa actualmente el país dificulta considerablemente la materialización de nuestro proyecto. La escasez de productos básicos, aunado al aumento desmesurado de los costos de adquisición de insumos y servicios promueve carencias en diversos frentes. Entre estos se conjugan el financiamiento del transporte, hospedaje y alimentación del equipo de voluntarios que nos acompañarán para el logro de los objetivos, así como de los medicamentos, insumos y equipos que se necesitan para atender a estas comunidades de forma correcta y eficiente. Los fondos donados a través de esta campaña serán usados para la logística y transporte de todos los campamentos de salud organizados. Estos fondos se pondrán a la disposición de los organizadores para el pago inmediato del transporte.

This year in CUMIS UCV we have the intention of offering medical and dental services to some of the most vulnerable rural communities from eastern Venezuela to the “llanos”. The established route on which we have planned to hold 5 work sessions include the areas of Orinoco Delta in Delta Amacuro state, Playa Colorada in Sucre state, Maniapure in Bolívar state, Araure in Portuguesa state and Caruao in Vargas state.
The Campamento Universitario Multidisciplinario de Investigación y Servicio (CUMIS), Multidisciplinary University Research and Service Camp in English, is an initiative promoted by educational instances of different Venezuelan universities related to health sciences, which provides students from various schools of Medicine and Dentistry with the opportunity to help those in dire situation. The objective of the established work sessions on each community is to fulfill functions of diagnosis, treatment and deworming, in addition to scientific research. Furthermore, we find it necessary to instill conscience over health issues and positive impact that carries on after we leave.
The economic, social and health crisis that Venezuela is currently experiencing makes it very difficult for our project to go through. The shortage of basic products, coupled with the excessive increase in the costs of acquiring supplies and services, promotes shortages on several aspects. These include the transportation, lodging and food financing of the team of volunteers who will accompany us to achieve the objectives, as well as the medicines, supplies and equipment needed to serve these communities correctly and efficiently. The funds donated through this campaign will be used for the logistics and transportation of all the organized health camps. These funds will be made available to the organizers for immediate payment of the transport.
