New Wheelchair Friendly Van

Hi my name is Bill Mauchline.  I am a 33 year old man with Spinal Muscular Atrophy disease, which is a muscle wasting disease. I was born with it, but I don’t let it rule my life.

I really enjoy getting out and about and to do that I need a reliable vehicle. That is why I’m doing this Go Fund Me page!  My current van is getting old, unfortunately it is on its last legs and I really don’t know how long I can keep relying on it. I would hate to get stuck somewhere on the side of the road. I rely on my van to get me to appointments and to visit family every weekend. I like to go to the movies in Midland and the numerous medical and equipment appointments in Perth. I don’t want to rely on other people or taxi’s when my van does decide that it can no longer go on.  Did I mention that I live in Northam – so it’s super important for me to have a reliable car that I can access with my wheelchair. 

My only source of income is a pension, most of which I have been saving towards purchasing a van. This is taking much longer than I expect my van to last. My NDIS covers a lot of things, however when it comes to the purchase price of an accessible vehicle it falls short. Particularly when I can’t afford the vehicle in the first instance.

I would be greatly appreciative if anyone would like to help me in reaching my goal of $50,000.  This in combination with my savings will enable me to purchase an accessible car that will last the remainder of my life time.
