This is our personal effort to help establish the first and much-needed Masjid & Centre in our area. Please plant your seeds of Sadaqah in Kanata by giving now.
Assalamu Alaikum Dear Friends,
Since 2014, we have been living in Kanata, a thriving, diverse suburb of Ottawa surrounded by most of the important services in very close proximity. But unfortunately, we are lacking something very important - our own masjid.
For the past 13 years, our community has been offering Jumah Salah in rented spaces like churches and community centres. These days, hundreds of our fellow brothers and sisters offer Jumah Salah at a city-run recreation complex.
This is the 7th Jumah location after the community outgrew 6 others. Other activities such as Qur'an, Islamic studies and Arabic language classes, daily salah with jamat, halqahs and community iftars are currently happening at 5 different rental locations.
The search for a property for a masjid had been going on unsuccessfully for many years, but alhamdulillah in November 2016, the community was finally able to purchase a beautiful and ideally-located property that is close to many Muslim families, including my home, and Muslim tech workers.
Now, we are trying our best to build a well-designed masjid and centre for salah, Quran/Islamic teaching and learning, dawah, feeding and helping those in need, counselling, caring for seniors, children and youth education and much more.
