Waterford Hospice and The order of Malta

In June 2013 my father was sick. We knew he had a few days left. His wish was to pass away at home with his family surrounding him. My mother was by his side every single day and thanks to the Hospice my father was able to get his wish. Two days before he passed my mother fell and broke her hip. She had to be rushed to hospital to receive hip surgery. We were heartbroken. Our father was passing away at home and our mother was in hospital unable to be by his side. The Hospice nurse was so helpful, she made sure our father was comfortable and the fact she was there reassured our mam. Mam had her surgery and we had to sign her out that day, we were told she wouldn't be able to sit in a car. We didnt know what to do, there were no ambulances to drive her home. And there wasn't much time left. The order of Malta supplied an ambulance and a driver on his break heard our story and drove mam home. Mam got home at 1.30 pm and dad passed at 6.30pm. We all know that he waited for her to be there. Thanks to these two services our father could share his last moments with his wife. Mam lay in a bed next to him as he took his last breath on June 11th. Something she was so thankful for. Mam passed away 6 months later on the 1st January 2014. We all knew she couldn't live without our dad. So that is why I wanted to do something for these charities. They help so many people and we know there are more stories like ours. They gave us something that is priceless. I will be running 100km in the month of January to raise funds for the Waterford Hospice and The order of Malta. Any donations are very much appreciated.
