Hannah's Heart Fund

Our life, as we know it, can turn upside down overnight. 
Hannah, 20 years old, is currently living in ICU at Intermountain Medical Center awaiting a heart transplant.  
Hannah’s story:  In September 2017, Hannah was diagnosed with Cardiomyopathy, a disease caused by a flu virus.  Last December (2016) she got the flu.  Cardiologists believe the flu virus entered her heart and attacked.  Over the last year, the virus caused silent, non-symptomatic, irreparable damage to her heart. 
Hannah worked all summer in the high Uintah mountains hiking 6 miles a day.  Little did she know that her heart was failing with each step. In the fall, Hannah returned to Utah State University striving for a bachelor’s degree in Forestry.  In September, severe stomach pains believed to be caused by her gallbladder, sent her to the hospital where she expected to have routine gallbladder surgery. A pre-op CT scan revealed her heart was greatly enlarged and pumping at 10% capacity, a critical life-threatening condition.  Hannah was immediately rushed by ambulance from Logan to Intermountain Medical Center in Salt Lake City. 
Overnight, her ‘known world’ collapsed. 
Within days her heart failed. She underwent 2 open heart surgeries to install artificial heart pumps.  For a number of weeks she was dependent upon total life support.  Hannah is a fighter.  She did not quit; she did not give in.  She took on the odds and won.  She works hard every day to become as strong and healthy as she possibly can while waiting for a new heart.
Hannah’s goal is to return to Utah State University ASAP, resume her studies in Forestry and obtain a Bachelor’s degree. Hannah must remain in ICU until a new heart can be found.  We are asking for help to fund Hannah’s expenses due to her heart condition.
