On Thursday October 1, 2020 at approximately 8:10 pm, my son Caleb Zook was involved in a very serious car wreck in which he hit a ditch, rolled end over end, hit a power pole mid air and snapped it. He was then thrown from the drivers seat to the backseat, then out the side window approximately 150 feet as my SUV continued to barrel roll another 100 or so feet into someone's yard. The homeowner happened upon the accident a few minutes later and called emergency personnel, and Caleb had to be flown via life flight to the hospital. Caleb is in Carle Hospital in Urbana Illinois in critical care. He sustained extensive injuries, including a compound fracture on his right arm, right shoulder dislocation, left wrist and hand is broken, he cut the back of his head open, he broke the orbital bone behind his right eye, broke his back in 2 places, and damaged his spinal cord, broke his cheekbone, broke some ribs, and has countless cuts and bruises, and a blood clot in his leg. So far he has had 2 surgeries..1 to fix his right compound fracture and shoulder dislocation, and the other was an emergency 7 hour back surgery. He will still have to have at least 1 more surgery to fix his left wrist and hand. Caleb still has regained no feeling and has no movement in the lower half of his body. He is in an unmeasureable amount of pain and absolutely miserable. When he is well enough, he will need to be transported to a spinal rehabilitation center so that he can get the more extensive treatment that he requires. I pray that with that, he will eventually get back to normal, but if not, then the best that he is able to do. The treatment center that the hospital is looking at is located in Chicago and is a state of the art facility. With that comes expense, and I am very low income. I need help to be able to make sure that he gets the help that he needs. I also need help with gas, food, etc.. to be able to be there for him to support him. Carle is almost an hour away from home and I just don't have the funds to get back and forth from the hospital. I don't like leaving him alone in there, but I do have other children that my parents are watching, so I am trying very hard to be there for every one and I need some help. I hate asking but I need to do what's best for my son. If you can't donate, then please pray and share. He needs all the prayers he can get.. the good Lord must have a great plan for him in his life or he most surely would be dead. UPDATES: 10/6/2020He has been downgraded out of critical care to pediatrics, but had a very bad night with his heart rate and breathing and was mostly unstable all night. He seems to be doing a bit better in that aspect this morning..at 1:30pm a trauma/neuro team specialist team will be here to fully assess him from head to toe to see what the best way to proceed from here will be. Tomorrow, 10/7 he is scheduled for surgery on his left wrist/hand. Prayers are needed! Thank you all for your support.#PrayersForCaleb
