Hi! My name is Kat. This fundraiser is for my parents, to allow them to hire someone to repair issues in our house. My folks have always put themselves last – all their time and money go to their kids, leaving nothing left for them. Now they are getting up in age.
My plan is to use donations to get an estimate and pay for repairs to the house (plumbing leaks, insulation, putting up drywall, etc). I know things are hard for a lot of people right now, so this is coming at a terrible time. But winter is setting in, and the house is freezing. I have anxiety, and winter is always so stressful for all of us because we have to hang blankets everywhere to help keep the rooms warm.
Both of my parents have a ton of medical issues. My dad has been on disability for physical issues. My mom has worked her butt off for years to support all of us, in spite of her painful rheumatoid arthritis. Over the years we have lived here, they’ve had great plans to renovate, and started, but then between the medical issues, disability and now, COVID, the house got stuck in a partially torn down state. My dad and mom aren’t physically capable of doing these repairs themselves, and I am dying to give them something after this horror show of a year, to thank them for all they have done for us over the years. I am trying to finish high school right now or I would get a full-time job to help.
The mortgage payment is around 900/month, and the other bills are often way too high because of the lack of insulation and other issues in the house. The dining room, which can’t be used anymore, is in very bad condition which involves a badly placed window and extreme plumbing issues. A bathroom is above the dining room and the shower leaks constantly, making the ceiling fall through. The room with the wood framing was an early project for a bathroom they had in mind but it never got finished due to less income. Any donations would be GREATLY appreciated and helpful. Please help me help my folks’ house become livable again.
