Enriching My Teacher Education

After graduating in May with degrees in Elementary Education and Applied Psychology I have an amazing opportunity to continue this education through really meaningful and beautiful volunteer work . I will be working at the Luigi Giussani Institute of Higher Education (lgihe.org) and the primary school it supports, in Uganda for six weeks.

My goal for the summer is to understand how to better teach in a way that appreciates the value of each student. The mission of LGIHE claims, "To create opportunities for professional and personal development starting with the dignity and infinite value of the person." This is an incredible approach to teaching that will be valuable for all my future teaching experiences. I've been studying education for four years and this would be such a unique experience. At the same time, I think I could really contribute to education of the students there through the supports already established by LGIHE. Working with children in vulnerable situations is something I feel deeply drawn to.

My work will be volunteer, and because of that I am in need of your support to make the trip. Some of my expenses include: airfare, vaccinations, and a visa. This is such an exciting thing for my summer and for my life. Thank you so much for your support!
