Volunteer's Dogs Attacked!Help!

Donation protected
Why: On Saturday Aug 19th my dear friend and dedicated volunteer, Susan Larsen came home to find not one but two of her dogs in critical condition from an unknown attack. What transpired that day will never be known but the aftermath has been nothing short of devistating. Susan was returning home from the hospital, her first grandchild was coming a month early and she was soon to be a Nonnie.! The whirl wind of excitement changed directions as she was immediately rushing 2 of her 8 rescues to the emergency vet. Both Emmie and Sally were taken to Denver Animal Emergency. Emmie has an 8" x 4" open wound that requires daily bandage changes by a veterinarian under sedation. She also has 10 staples in various places on her body. Sally has 26 staples, and 2 drains amongst several other wounds. They required 24/7 care the first 4 days which meant transporting them day and night between Denver Emergency and East Lincoln Animal Hospital so they could receive constant monitoring. The cost of their care has been well beyond what any of us could conceive to set aside for unexpected emergencies and continues to grow! After saving hundreds of other lives Susan made the obvious choice to fight for her own furbabies despite the cost and difficult road. With her commitment to their care they came home Wednesday Aug 23rd at Susan's urging. Emmie continues to return daily for bandage changes. Sally also has been receiving ongoing care and the road to recovery will not only be long but very expensive! Today Aug 28th they will both be undergoing surgery to try to close the enormous wounds, remove necrotic skin and hopefully turn the corner on their recovery. Please consider any donation big or small to help Emmie and Sally continue to receive this crutial care.
If you do not have the pleasure of knowing Susan and her doggies please take a moment more to learn about a lady I am extremely proud to call a friend.

Who: Susan Larsen is Pet Mom Extraodinaire to 8 rescues dogs all comfortably living in her home filled with love. They are her world! In addition to providing wonderful care to her own babies she has dedicated countless hours, days, weeks and years to helping animals in the community. She has crawled under a shed in the mud and freezing temps to help a mom and her pups, provided resources for neighbors in need to better care for their animals and routinely pays for their vetting. She leads weekly adoption events to help homeless animals find the perfect home and even after undergoing a few surgeries of her own we couldn't stop her from helping. She is always giving even when we urge her to take a break. She dressed up as Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz for our Helping Animals To Survive parade float when I asked her although I knew she would have rather just been herself. I needed someone to deliver the message "There is No Place Like Home" and through all the challenges Dorothy faced she ALWAYS kept Toto safe. I obviously chose the right person for the role because nothing will stop Susan from caring for her dogs. If you ask Susan she will humbly say she doesn't do enough but we who see her in action know much better! Her favorite part is busting out a long term resident of the animal shelter and driving them to their next stop. She even went as far as flying a homeless pup to his rescue all the way to California! Not many can say they have gone to those lengths. She has been the first step to a new life for so many and not only do Emmie and Sally need her so do thousands of homeless animals just waiting to have their lives changed for the good by her !Let's get her back on the road and help her celebrate the recovery of Emmie and Sally AND becoming Nonnie to a beautiful healthy baby boy one week ago today! Thank you for your help!
