Help VOLTA make ✨magic✨

Hi, my name is Deborah, but you can call me Miss Dee and my mission is to impact children's lives through Science Based Dance.

In 2017, I took the leap to become a first time business owner and opened a dance studio called VOLTA Performing Arts.

I am proud to serve my community as LatinX WomXn Owned Business and providing inclusive arts education, especially in my own neighborhood of Logan Square right here in Chicago.

Navigating this pandemic as a new business owner has taken its toll on me.

It is with a heavy heart that I must tell you, VOLTA is in jeopardy of losing our home.

I love being a dance educator, a studio owner and most importantly, being a part of your kids' development and helping them to build confidence in themselves.

I'm not ready to close my doors. I'm not ready to say goodbye.

VOLTA has cultivated an amazing community and I love seeing it grow. But, I have reached a point where my last resort is to ask for help from you.

In order to keep our current home, VOLTA needs your help. Our rent is quite expensive and we were given no relief from our landlord during the pandemic.

Our enrollment rate this season was not what I projected in order to cover the current rent as well as the debt incurred during the pandemic. Consequently I have fallen behind on the rent.

Our lease is up at the end of the month and our landlord is not willing to resign our lease, without catching up.

I created this GoFundMe in hopes that we, as a community, can come together to save VOLTA.

My wish is to continue growing VOLTA and spreading my 'Miss Dee Magic', to empower young dancers to build confidence in their ability to move their body to self express, release emotions, develop proper dance technique and promote body positivity all while having FUN!

We have a tight deadline to raise these funds.
If we do not raise enough money by December 20th, our landlord will not re-sign our lease and we will have to vacate our building.

VOLTA is the Portuguese word that means "to turn," but the words "Dar VOLTA" is kind of like the English saying "to turn things around" and also like: "you'll get back on your feet". As a Brazilian American, I believe the serendipity here is a sign of our fate that our community can work through this challenge together.

I know that everyone does not have the ability to donate, especially being this close to the holidays.
I want to share a few other ways you can help us:
Share our story! Follow us on Facebook and Instagram and let others know they can also help!

Write us a review! If you have ever had a good experience at our studio or at one of our events, share your story on Facebook and Yelp

Tell other parents about your child’s love for our studio and encourage them to enroll in our classes, camps and/or workshops. Or to sign-up for a trial class THIS WEEK!

Stay positive. Faith, Trust and Miss Dee Magic Fairy Dust. I’m not ready to give up on my dreams and I hope you are invested in me, my journey, my vision. Let’s come together and continue building community in the arts.
