Vechten voor meer tijd met mijn gezin

Hallo allemaal,

In 2023 zakte de grond onder onze voeten weg: maag/slokdarmkanker met uitzaaiingen en geen kans op genezing. Prognose: 14 maanden.

En daar sta je dan: 48 jaar, moeder van twee prachtige kinderen van 6 en 13 jaar en met nog zoveel plannen voor de toekomst.

Omdat de tumor niet operabel is, worden andere behandelingen dan chemotherapie en immunotherapie niet uitgevoerd in Nederland. En dat terwijl de drang om er nog zo lang mogelijk te kunnen zijn voor mijn kinderen, zo groot is.

We besloten om tegen de cijfers van de prognoses in te zwemmen en zo begon een zoektocht naar aanvullende behandelingen, maar dan wel wetenschappelijk onderbouwd.

Met succes! De in Nederland aangeboden behandelingen hebben we aangevuld met PIPAC en hyperthermie om zo de tumor steeds een flinke optater te kunnen geven. Daarnaast zijn de kinderen met therapie gestart om deze heftige situatie zo goed mogelijk te doorstaan.

Ga ik genezen met deze behandelingen? Waarschijnlijk niet, maar het geeft me wel meer tijd om bij mijn gezin te zijn en zo lang mogelijk te omarmen wat we hebben.

Maar, al deze behandelingen zetten ons wel elke maand voor zorgkosten van ruim 1.000 euro, die niet worden vergoed door de zorgverzekeraar. Dat hebben we een tijdje volgehouden, maar de bodem van de spaarpot is in zicht (en de wil om te vechten nog lang niet).

Daarom doen wij een beroep op jou om de maandelijkse zorgkosten voorlopig te kunnen blijven betalen en iets over te houden voor de kinderen voor de toekomst.

Voor wie wil: Uitleg medische behandelingen:

PIPAC= verneveling van chemotherapie in de buikholte. Dit wordt gedaan omdat, door de slechte doorbloeding van het buikvlies, de chemotherapie de uitzaaiingen minder goed bereikt en daardoor minder effectief is. In Nederland wordt deze behandeling wel in studieverband uitgevoerd, met veelbelovende resultaten. In het buitenland wordt PIPAC, naast studieverband, ook als behandeling aangeboden.

Hyperthermie = m.b.v. straling worden de gebieden waar de tumor en uitzaaiingen zitten, verwarmd naar 42 graden. Lichaamscellen kunnen hier tegen, kankercellen niet. De kankercellen raken verzwakt en zo vatbaarder voor de chemotherapie. Daarnaast verhoogt hyperthermie de doorbloeding, waardoor de chemotherapie beter bij de tumoren en uitzaaiingen komt.

In 2023 the floor disappeared: stomach/eusopahagus cancer with spreading and no change to cure: pronoses 14 months.

And there you stand: 48 years, mom of two beautifull children of 6 and 13 years old and som many plans for the future.

Because they cannot do surgury on the tumor, other treatments than chemo and immuno-therapy are not offered in the Netherlands. That is so dufficult, beacuse the urge to be her as long a possible for my kids is so big.

So we desided to swim against the numbers of the prognoses and the surge for extra, medically proofed, treeatments started.

And with succes! We added PIPAC and hyperthermia treatments to the ones offerd in the Netherlands so we can give the tumor a big blow. Beides that, the children started therapy to deal with this devastating situation as good as possible.

Will this treatments cure me? Probably not, but it wil give me more time to be with my family and embrace what we have as long as possible.

But, all these treatments give us extra costs of more then 1000 euro every month, wich are not covered by the insurance. We managed for a while, but the bottom of our savingaccounts are visible, and the urge to fight is far from done.

Thats why we ask you to help us to be able to pay for the exta treatments for the coming time and to keep some money the kids for the future.

For who wants: Explanation of the extra treatments:

PIPAC= letting chemo flow in the stomach cavity. This is done because the bloodflow there is poor and intravenous chemo does not reach the spreaded cancer very good. In the Netherlands, this treatment is done but only in studies, but with good results. As a treatmet it is offered in Belgium.

Hyperthermie = with the use of readiation, the aerias where the cancer is, are heated to 42 degrees. Healthy body cells can stand this, but it weakens the cancer celss so the are more receptive for chemo. Besides that, it increases the bloodflow, making the chemo therapy more effective.
