Aria Hope Stevenson was born on January 17th, 2018. The name Aria means “lioness”, and her middle name Hope means “a confident expectation or belief that something is going to happen.” Immediately after she was born, her doctors identified some concerns related to her heart. After a few days in the hospital in Burlington and some preliminary tests, the doctors believed that the problems could be taken care of with a non-invasive procedure at the Boston Children’s Hospital, which was scheduled for the first week of April.

April 1st, the Stevenson family traveled to Boston with the hope that the doctors would be able to remedy the problems in Aria’s heart. Unexpectedly, during the scheduled procedure, the doctors determined that the concerns with Aria’s heart were greater than expected. Aria Hope is now scheduled to have open-heart surgery next month in Boston with the full expectation that the procedure will alleviate all of the problems that have been identified.

Since hearing this news, many people have asked about how to practically love and care for Zach, Meghan, and their daughters, Naima Grace and Aria Hope.

We are asking first and foremost, that you join in prayer with this family and believe with them in the healing power of their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. They have full confidence in His ability to heal their daughter completely.

Second, as one would expect, there are significant expenses related to an unexpected medical situation. Along with the expenses associated with a major medical procedure that will be done in a city where they don’t live, Zach and Meghan recently put a contract on a town house in Vermont and are scheduled to close on May 1st. Zach’s ministry in Burlington is supporting many churches in the state as they are building a solid foundation of worship and prayer. This house God has provided for the Stevenson family is a stake in the ground regarding the roots they are willing to put down to continue building the ministry God has already established.

It was a financial leap of faith that they made to invest in a home, so that they might sow into what God is doing here in Vermont. Now these unexpected expenses they are facing related to their daughter’s surgery have stretched them thin. They will be staying in Boston for an extended period of time following the surgery, and are facing significant transportation, lodging, and child-care expenses for post-operative consultations in the coming months. This campaign is a practical way to help out this special family to meet these needs.

Our goal is to raise $5,000 to meet the expenses they are facing related to Aria’s surgery.

We created a hashtag to use as you share this campaign, and as we share updates. The term “Lion Hearted” refers to bravery and determination. Let’s join with Zach, Meghan, Naima, and Aria as they face this trial with the heart of a lioness.
