Hello! My name is Jo, and I am a Korean non-binary artist. I am currently seeking gender-affirming top surgery to help with my gender dysphoria.
MY STORY (TW: GENDER DYSPHORIA, ABUSE):
I came out as nonbinary in 2018. I have always had a disconnect from my biological womanhood since I could remember. Educating myself and coming to terms with the fact that I am nonbinary was one of the biggest reliefs of my life. However, with this came further realization and hyperfixation on my gender dysphoria. Specifically, my chest dysphoria. The pain I have felt from this is becoming unbearable, and I need help.
Until last month, I had been living with my abusive biological family in their house. Thankfully, I have since escaped and have been living in a house with two of my close friends. In that aspect, my home situation has been amazing. Because of this, I no longer have to deal with the blatant transphobia+homophobia that has been projected onto me from my biological family and I believe it is time for me to take the next step in my journey towards self-love and acceptance and undergo gender-affirming top surgery.
I reached out to an amazing doctor in northern Ohio, whose team immediately got back to me with a quote and the procedure details which I will be sharing.
"Hi Jo,
Dr. * (Redacted for my protection, will be releasing his information post-op for anyone that needs it) has reviewed your information. The procedure that he would perform is the double incision mastectomy with nipple grafting and chest liposuction. The total price for surgery is $7997. I have attached your price quote. We will need a clearance letter from a therapist in order to schedule surgery. Let me know if you have any questions."
I am ready for this.

WHAT ARE THESE FUNDS FOR?:
Good question. I have recently received a quote from the doctor/surgeon I would like to receive my procedure from. To break down the costs: surgery itself is $5000USD. However, the additional fees from anesthesia, the facility, and inventory add up to $7797USD. I will also need to purchase a round trip plane ticket to the facility for myself and another trusted friend (who will be taking care of me post-op). A hotel room will also need to be booked. Though I don't estimate this all to be exactly $15000USD, Gofundme takes a percentage (2.9%) of ALL donations from the creator, so I have taken the liberty to raise the goal in order to make sure this depletion of money does not impede any of my plans.
If I do by chance receive a surplus of money, I will be dividing it as such:
- 30% of the surplus money will go to me in order to help me survive my day to day life. If you know me from Twitter, you may be familiar with my financial difficulties as I have just received numerous bills from the psychiatric ward, hospital, and university health insurance. That in itself will add up to $10000USD+, and I could use all the help I could get.
- 70% (Aka the rest) of any and all surplus money will go to any other people's gender-affirming surgery Gofundme's. Black trans women have my utmost priority, and I will be sure to add photos of proof of donation either onto this campaign or on my Twitter (@ikisspuppy).
