Vivian was born late in the night by an emergency csection after swallowing meconium. She needed resuscitation and therapeutic hypothermia to prevent brain injury. We also found out that she has two holes in her heart, ASD. After a month in the NICU she was given a gtube for feeding. Over the past 10.5 months she has started to develop tube dependency. There are many negative side effects to a feeding tube and now that she is medically stable we have weighed the risks/benefits to wean her. The local team here is inexperienced with how to wean and so after hours of research we found notube.com. They are leaders in weaning, 90% success rate, and they will support us daily during this stressful time. We hope to start the wean in January after getting many things in order as this will be a diffficult process requiring us to miss work and monitor her health daily. Notube believes Vivian is ready to eat/drink independently and so do we! They have already approved her for their netcoaching program. Vivian deserves a chance to show us what she's capable of!
She had a traumatic beginning and the feeding tube is the last visible, daily, reminder...
If you are reading this, we thank you for taking the time to support Vivian and bring awareness to tube feeding. Please feel free to check out notube.com.
We appreciate that so many people love and support Vivian, the strongest litttle miracle we know!
