Join us in raising funds to build a playground for Visitation Catholic School, a centerpiece of the Verboort community since 1883! The school is a hub of education, and community building, but has one big limitation; Visitation does not have a playground for K-8 students!
The current play area is a concrete lot that is also needed for parking and a grass field with aged freestanding equipment that is often too muddy to use. Meanwhile, the indoor gymnasium is not large enough for all students to be active during recess.
Both areas are well over 1,000 feet from the school building. The distance and problems associated with constant muddy shoes/clothes present school safety and maintenance concerns.
The existing freestanding equipment was originally donated by the community over 20 years ago. The equipment consists of one tether ball pole, a permanent in-ground swing set with 4 seats, and monkey bars. The equipment, or lack thereof, does not adequately meet the needs of students and the larger community.
The installation date for the K-8 playground area is scheduled for July 2023. Fundraising efforts have been successful. To date, the Visitation Parent club has purchased new K-8 playground equipment ($90,607). However, to complete the playground project an additional $188,000 is needed for the installation of turf and to cover labor costs to install the playground equipment.
Visitation parents, teachers, administrators, and students agree that our kids need better outdoor play options to promote health and wellness, to make recess more fun, and to provide a safe gathering space for kids after school!
Please help us raise the $188,000 to complete the K-8 playground project.
