WHAT WE DO:
Vision Guatemala Futura is a new NGO based in Peten, Guatemala focused on developing actions and initiatives while implementing projects and programs to help reduce the effects of climate change in Guatemala.
In order to conserve Guatemala's abundance of natural beauty and history, it is crucial to first heal and educate the local populations at hand. Through strategic alliances with local health departments, other non-profits & conservation programs and the British Embassy, Vision Guatemala Futura works to improve health, nutrition and education within indigenous populations and generate economic opportunities for the local communities.
IN 2017 WE:
- Celebrated Earth Day educating the future generation on conservation in Paso Caballos
- Acquired and donated medicines to regional hospitals and clinics for Pediatric and Intensive Care needs.
- Started our "Fondas Becas" scholarship program to incentivise students (especially girls) to stay in school
- Signed an agreement with the Malnutrition Recovery Center to continue helping them end malnutrition in children under 5 in the Peten region
- Carried out free reproductive health & nutrition classes alongside the Ministry of Health covering puberty, anatomy/physiology and family planning all over the region
- Donated and opened 2 clinics in local communities where the community can buy & sell basic medications at a lowered costs and eventually be self-sustainable
- Empowered groups of indigenous women through unique training programs that teach groups how to make a basic good or service and how to use those skills to sustain their own businesses
YOUR DONATION WILL:
- Keep children in school through our sholarship programs
- Help us provide medical supplies to underserved communities
- Allow us to reach more communities to teach nutrition, hygiene and reproductive health
- Give us the resources to create more programs/initiatives to improve health & development
