Vipin Sharma

On 7/25 a man entered our BP Gas Station located at 6845 Arlington Expressway Jacksonville, FL and held up my father at gun point. He took the money and then shot my father in the hand and in the abdomen. My father is currently in critical condition at Memorial Hospital. The shooter almost took my Dad's life, messed up how they make a living and support themselves and caused so much pain, grief and misfortune all over a couple hundred bucks. He shot my father after getting his money then walked out like nothing happened. Luckily after my Dad stumbled and walked to the door a customer came in and saw him and immediately called 911. My Dad lost more than 7 pints of blood and still has a bullet lodged in his pelvis. Our business has seen much hardship but we continued to grind from 6am-11pm daily 7 days a week. We restarted a closed gas station and built relationships within the community and won customers over with their friendly demenor. My dad knew all his regular customers and greeted each one individually and made people feel welcome and like family. Its not fair for hard working people to lose their business and only source of income because of a thug who decided a couple hundred dollars was worth more than a human life. My mom has not left his side at the hospital since he has arrived and by doing so they have been forced to close the gas station until he is well enough. Every day is a new battle, with new challenges for my Dad in his steps towards recovery. We are still trying to take this one day at a time.  We have had an out pour of support from our Jacksonville community and even by our store patrons who have stopped by to visit him in the ICU.
