Give the gift of music

I first started learning the violin at the age of six. Although practicing was not the most enjoyable, I loved playing. Now that I am older, I am forever grateful to my parents and teacher who continuously encouraged me to not give up. Whether through performing with my orchestra, sharing music with the elderly people in my community, and teaching lessons free of charge to low income and underprivileged children, it is my desire to give back to people through music. 
         I am raising money for a new violin. I am a junior in college and quite small for my age. Recently due to some neurological issues, I have extended and increased pains in my arms. In playing my full size violin, it increased the pain and made the situation worse. Through the advice of various trusted experts and string players, it was suggested that I gave violin playing a rest. I was devastated and of course did not think this was an option to just stop and quit. Not long afterwards, another option arose for me; to look into trying a smaller and rarer 7/8 violin. With the help of my teacher, we came to the conclusion in order to continue my studies with the violin I would definitely need a smaller violin. After weeks of researching for the perfect violin, I finally found the one I loved. From the moment it rested on my shoulder, I knew it was the right one for me. I am presently in the process of trying to purchase this smaller violin, but because if its uniqueness and rarity of this instrument, the selling price is high and is beyond what I can currently afford.
