Vieques Hurricane Aid

It has been a destructive hurricane season in the Caribbean this year. Hurricane Maria has left Puerto Rico in tatters and they're expected to be without power until 2018. While relief trickles in to the main island, the two small islands off its' coast are the last to be helped.
We are raising money to send disaster relief items to the community members of Vieques. Funds will go directly towards purchasing solar power, tools, and toiletries for the families in need.
In the spring, Alicia Afshar and I traveled to Vieques to film a documentary and instantly fell in love with all the people there. We accompanied Cal State Fullerton's Professor, Julián Jefferies and his students in the Puerto Rico International Education (PRIE) Program where they volunteered at a community farm and were able to personally experience Puerto Rico's cultures. We were exposed to the island population's severe social, educational and health needs which are now worsened by the hurricane devastation.
We're in contact with Robert Rabin of Radio Vieques and Nilda Medina of the BIEKE Incubator, Inc. who are deeply involved in the Vieques community and will be able to administer these items to those whom aide has not yet reached.
The people of Vieques need your help and any contribution makes a difference.
These funds will be used to purchase and ship some of the following items:
- Goal Zero solar kit
- First Aid kits
- Water Purifiers
- Gloves, tools
- Toiletries
- Dry food
