Victoria's Operation

Donation protected
It has been a huge shock, and it is with so much sadness I am writing this story about our much-loved Victoria - youngest daughter of Anita, little sister to Mandy, Debbie and Laura, and mum to Kiah, Lily and Ava. On Monday, she was diagnosed with a Pituitary Tumour

Victoria has had to deal with an enormous amount of pressure and stress in the last few years, and has had symptoms which, in hindsight, go back possibly 3-5 years. The most recent being her deterioration of vision, which caused her to go see an optometrist who put it down to stress, but did suggest she see an opthalmologist.

Her appointment was on the 21st of August (Monday). After seeing her for a good few hours and doing all the necessary tests, he gave her the devastating news.

Generally, pituitary tumours are slow-growing and are benign. We obviously do not know the outcome until after the operation. However, if she does not have this operation to remove it, there is a strong possibility she will lose her sight altogether.  She has already lost enough vision for her to be unable to drive, unable to help her kids with their homework, unable to do most things.

Victoria is mum to Kiah (18) and two beautiful little girls, Lily (7) and Ava (5), who are her whole world. Whilst dealing with far too much personally as she is currently going through a divorce, her work-life has suffered as well. As such, there is very little income, and no medical aid at all.

The initial consultation with the specialist was R3000. The scan cost R23,000. It also showed the tumour to be incredibly large. It needs to be removed as soon as possible. To remove the tumour will possibly be around R250,000. Once the tumour is removed, there may be radiation therapy and medication needed after that. There is no doubt a long road ahead.

She simply doesn't have these funds available. We realise that these days there always seems to be someone asking for money for something every which way you look, but we ask you from the bottom of our hearts to please help us if you can. Help us give Victoria the peace of mind this will bring, knowing that the least of her worries need to be about the cost, and she can concentrate on getting well again, and being the amazing mother, sister, friend that she is.  Any amount, no matter how small, will be hugely appreciated.

Thank you xxxxx
