Victoria Boathouse Dock Replacement Project

Each year hundreds of Saskatonians flock to the boathouse during the summer months to rent or use their own canoe/kayak and to enjoy the scenic delights of the South Saskatchewan River.
In the Victoria Boathouse, a legacy of the 1989 Jeux Canada Games, all three of the partner clubs have facilities and equipment, as well as racing boats/shells for Saskatoon athletes to have the opportunity to enhance their abilities in order to qualify and compete at National and International Competitions with award winning results.
WHAT
This new dock will allow our clubs to continue to grow and expand as well as provide a safer and more accessible ramp system and dock for all of Saskatoon residents who want to participate in non-motorized water craft to enjoy the river.
The current 160 x 12 foot dock, made from treated lumber, is maintained by volunteers from the three clubs. The dock is approaching the end of its functioning life, and as new environmental laws prohibit the installation of new treated lumber wood projects, the three clubs are embarking on a joint fundraising campaign to purchase a modular composite compound dock system to meet these standards.
HOW CAN YOU HELP?
The dock replacement is budgeted at $474,000, a huge undertaking for these clubs. Federal funding for this initiative is provided through the Canada Community Revitalization Fund (CCRF), which is administered in Saskatchewan by PrairiesCan and will cover 75% of the cost, with the 3 boathouse partners coming together to fundraise to raise the balance of $115,000.
