Donate to Victims of Apartment Fire in St. Henri, Montreal

On June 14, my partner and I lost our apartment to a fire and stripped of everything we owned. We are a young couple who saved up every penny over the course of several months to only be able to partially furnish our apartment and make our space feel like a home. We were just about to reach our first year anniversary in our apartment on July 1, 2025.

No cash amount can ever bring back the memories attached to the 11 months that we spent in our first apartment together and many of our belongings that we brought from our childhood homes.

Our furnitures were physical manifestations of our blood, sweat and tears as two working students and they were destroyed within a blink of an eye. We’ve heard over the course of 48 hours since this tragic event that material things can be easily replaced but we never saw our belongings as just that.

Our hearts break every time we think about the unfortunate situation that we have been faced with and feel helpless that there is nothing we can do to reverse it. At this time, we only know that the fire started in one of the front units on our floor but there have been no confirmation to the cause of the fire.

It is our goal to fundraise up to $10K to help us get back on our feet and to assist in any legal fees that we may acquire during this process.

My partner and I, as well as our two cats, are extremely fortunate to not have been harmed. Unfortunately, my cats don’t know it yet but they will no longer be coming back to their home; their sanctuary.

We are extremely grateful that all of our neighbours and their animal companions were evacuated and safe.

We are grateful for any amount that you may be able to donate. Any amount that surpasses our goal will be passed on to the other tenants in dire need of financial assistance.
