Victims of Ajax house fire and medical tragedy

Early Friday morning on January 19th, Andrea and her family experienced the most horrific day of their lives. In a heroic attempt to save both her and her two year old son's lives, a brave mother threw her son out of her 2-story window to safety into the arms of an emergency responder. Moments after, Andrea then jumped out of her bedroom window to escape the flames which had engulfed the entire home. Unfortunately, as she fell the first point of contact with the ground was her face. As a result, she sustained numerous critical injuries: several broken ribs and bones in her nose, eye and face, as well as injuries to her neck leaving life-threathening clots in her carotid artery. She was immediately airlifted to Sunnybrooke Neuro-Vascular Intensive Care Unit. She was rushed into emergency surgery for an uncontrollable bleed in the head, which the surgeons were thankfully able to stabilize. Following the hemorrage she required an emergent blood transfusion. She remains in the ICU under close monitoring for the next several weeks. She still needs reconstructive surgery and has an extensive road to recovery ahead of her.

Unfortunately the medical status of the other victim, is far more critical. Due to the severity of the fire, the father of the child sustained life-threatening injuries leaving him in a coma. He was found unresponsive without vital signs at the scene, and was immediately rushed to the Burns ICU for treatment. He remains intubated on life-support and unresponsive despite life saving measures and medical interventions. Please continue to pray for him, we are believing for a miracle.

Aside from the critical condition of the victims, our main priority is to provide the basic necessities for Andrea's family, as all of the families possessions have been loss in the devastating fire. This tragedy has had an effect on the physical, mental and emotional state of the entire family, extended family and friends. As we are trying to figure out post-trauma arrangements we've created this Gofundme to support the urgent resources needed to accommodate the family at this time.

Thank you to everyone for your thoughts and prayers. Our family is extremely grateful for the continued support. We are overwhelmed with the thought-felt messages, encouragement and generosity during this time. You all are a tremendous support in sparking hope for us, and seeing you all band together to help out our family has truly touched our hearts. Thank you again and God bless you all.
