Victim of life threatening mob attack: Halloween

Aloha,

On Halloween night, our cousin Nui was brutally attacked by a large group of men in Waikiki, repeatedly hit in the head and face with bars and shovels while unconscious. This attack was completely random and unprovoked.

Nui now suffers from a fractured jaw, nose, orbital fracture, and multiple abrasions to his face and head. He has multiple fractures on the right side of his face. Surgeons will evaluate in a few days if a metal plate will be needed to stabilize the right side of his face. He is currently still admitted to the hospital for further evaluation and monitoring. Physicians are determining whether surgery will be necessary.

Nui is the most kind-hearted, mellow, loving guy you could be fortunate enough to know. He did not provoke this attack and did not deserve the pain and suffering these people have caused.

Nui, a hard worker, was excited about his recent promotion and celebrating with friends last night. Unfortunately, with these extensive injuries, it is unknown when he’ll be able to return to work.

Our Ohana and all who love him are devastated and sickened at the realization of the blatant cruelty that exists in our world, even more saddening here at home in Hawaii, where we used to feel safe.

We humbly ask for your help in supporting Nui. Whether it’s prayer, encouraging words, spreading awareness, or a monetary donation to help him cover medical costs/leave from work to recover. Your generosity is much appreciated. He will be facing a long road to recovery.

Most of all let’s come together as an Ohana & look out for one another. These random acts of violence in our community, in our islands, are beyond unacceptable.
