Victim Of Hit And Run Need Your Financial Support.

On January 23rd, a beloved father, husband, and friend, Will Eden, was tragically struck by a driver who failed to take responsibility for his actions and left Will in an unconscious state on the side of the road in Newark, New Jersey. Hours later, he was found barely breathing by passersby, who called 911 to get him help. He was transported to a nearby major trauma hospital, where he has been receiving treatment for the last 55+ days. As a result of the accident, his right leg was shattered. However, the gravest medical challenge he is currently facing is an acute left frontal lobe brain injury. This affliction could lead to long-lasting behavioral and psychological impairments, as well as a loss of strength in the muscles, similar to the aftereffects of a stroke.

While the trauma hospital has performed top-tier, fully comprehensive emergency surgery on Will’s leg, recovering his mobility and providing him with excellent care, it lacks the resources to rehabilitate his mind to his former state of cognition, coherence, and mental presence. As of today, April 1st he has not been able to return to his family as himself. He makes strides toward wellness every day, but he still doesn’t recognize his sons, and he regresses in his mental recovery.
As a result of the lack of rehabilitative services for neurological injuries at the hospital, I had to take a leave from my work as a paraprofessional at an elementary school to provide the bedside care my husband needs. The process of obtaining long-term care insurance has proven to be complicated and beset by hurdles, and with my income comprised, our family is facing challenges paying our rent and utility bills.
In addition, the only vehicle we have needs mechanical repairs, which I am having difficulties securing the funds to pay for. As a response to this complex situation, I have been spending the family’s dwindling funds to pay for daily transit to the hospital where my husband is to help with verbal stimulation treatment in the hopes that these efforts will lead to him advancing to a therapeutic facility and returning to his former state. Our family would appreciate any financial support you’re able to give in helping us face the exorbitant medical bills and the toll this accident has taken on our lives.
