Hi Everyone,
My Name is Emily Solomon, i am the daughter of Vickie Slade and Older sister of 16 year old Lakota Morris.
Last year my Sister Lakota went into Hospital with suspicion of Acute appendicitis, she was in and out of hospital for month with no known cause or reasons why she was in pain, and doctors and specialists were unsure of what she had, or why she was having so many issues.
Little did we know at the beginning of this year we would get a diagnosis of Cystic Mesothelioma Inclusion Tumour growths.
There are only 130 cases that are reported in the WORLD, and this is a rare form of cancer/tumour. This is the technical name for what Lakota has now.
As of the beginning of April, she has a pre admission appointment, as she has to undergo a HUGE 24 hour surgery within 14 days after this date, in which she will have HIPEC (Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy) That goes straight into her abdominal area during this surgery. Lakota will be admitted into hospital for a month-Long stay.
It has been a tough 3 months since the diagnosis. The beginning of this year our Step Dad's mother passes away, she helped a great deal with bills and finances, and since then it has been a huge struggle, especially myself living 8-10 hours away and in another state, and my mother the champ she has been, has taken her to all hospital appointments, getting my sister physically and mentally prepared for this massive surgery. it is going to be a long road to recovery, and the financial burden it has placed on my mother and our family has been huge, its been quite a struggle, even as simple as a bill getting paid, because the car she has, has decided to play game and have break downs, and cost more money to fix. money that she or the family don't have.. I Have helped as much as i can being so far away, but it is tough.
Basically, i am asking if anyone of our family or friends would pretty please, help in any way at all big or small, it will help our family, especially when mum has a little one to look after, and be there for Lakota as well as put food on the table, and get everything that Lakota needs which might include medication, taking care of things at home and having a running car to get my sister to and from these appointments
It is a huge mental and emotional burden on our family not to mention the financial strain, so anything would help at all.
but please keep Lakota in your Prayers over the next few weeks, and not inundate her with inboxes, but if you would like information, or to pass on messages, please inbox myself, i would be more than happy to pass on any messages.
it has been a very difficult few months for the family, and my mum has been an absolute champ through it all and she is our biggest support and rock so please help me take some of this strain of mum.
