Veteran Biker Victim of a Hit and Run

Donation protected
Dear All,

Wednesday April 5 at around 4:30 my dad was involved in a motorcycle hit and run accident. He was just south of the I-40 exit on South I-35 coming home after working a long shift where he is the supervisor of a boys home, when a careless driver slammed into the back end of his bike sending him flying into the stone median going 60 mph. This has caused a broken humerus and a fractured hip that’s fractured into the pelvis. He had to have 2 emergency surgeries where they placed plates and screws into both the arm and the hip. As of right now he is in stable condition recovering in the trauma center of OU Medical Center. We have been told by various doctors and physicians that this will be a long road of recovery, stating that it will be at least 4 months before he is able to walk again, but of course this could be longer. This will include him possibly being admitted to a rehabilitation hospital or remaining in the hospital to recover before being released home to us. Once released home there is a possibility of us needing to hire a home health aid to assist us in his recovery. He is the main source of income for our family so we are looking for help to cover his loss of wages for these next few months. We haven’t been told how much his surgeries and medical care are going to cost so we are unsure of how much this accident could amount to in the coming months. We are also looking for any help to locate the individual who caused the crash, if anyone has any information please reach out to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol - Troop A. My father is a Marine Corps veteran of Desert Storm and he also served in South Korea and he continues to serve his community by helping at risk youth during his day job. He is a father, friend, and most importantly a mentor to many in the OKC area. Our request includes loss of wages and an estimation of how much his medical bills will cost over the coming months.

Thank you so much for reading his story. Any kind of help would be appreciated. Even if it is only $1. We appreciate all of the love and kind wishes that have been given to us over these past few days and we are hoping for a quick recovery.

I wanted to thank you all personally, my father has been my rock and has been called a great man by everyone who has spoken about him. We are so grateful he is here with us and we appreciate all of the bystanders and wonderful medical staff that has assured my dad is with us today.

Anything will help, we appreciate you all!
