Venus Berry’s Cancer Staging and Surgery Cost

On Feb 11th we had our vet remove a lump on Venus’ back right leg and had it sent to the lab. It came back positive as a Cancerous Level 2 Mast Cell Tumor. We met with an Oncologist on Feb 20 for consultation. The Dr recommended we start with a staging process. Venus will need full body ultra sounds and cytology performed to see if the cancer is only in her leg or if it has spread to other areas in her body. The cost of this is approx $2,000. Following the staging process, the Oncologist would like to move on with surgically removing any cancerous tissue left. The Oncologist seems optimistic that it has not spread outside of the leg, and surgery will be the proper treatment. The surgery will cost between $1,500-$3,000 depending on if they find anymore traces of the cancer in other areas. 

We ask for thoughts and prayers at this time. Unfortunately this is not something  we are prepared for. Diana, Scout, Copper, Venus, and myself are asking for donations of any size to help fund this 2 part process.  Our goal amount is for what we know the staging process will cost and the lower end of the surgical procedure (hoping that the cancer is just in the leg). Venus is approx 6.5 years old. She weights 68 pounds. She is a crazy pitbull who will cuddle and lick you for days.
