My Run to Raise Awareness and Help for Animals

Can you help me help some animals? I'm raising money to benefit Friends of the Napa County Animal Shelter and Adoption Center Inc.
You might know me, I’m Malina. I’m 11 years old and love to play softball. Ever since I started 5th grade I knew I was getting older and I could start to do more. My dog Rhae, died last year and my heart broke. He was a rescue from the Napa County Animal Shelter. For a long time when I thought of Rhae I would get sad, but now when I think of Rhae, I want to think of trying to help other animals like him at the shelter where we found him.
I’m running to raise money in Rhae’s memory for the shelter and their animals. I will run my first 5k on January 18, 2020. In softball you don’t run a lot. I’m not fast and don’t really like to run except when I’m running around the bases on a big hit. But I thought that since the animals at the shelter had to go through rough times and face many challenges before finding a home that I could also challenge myself.
When I started I’d never even run a half mile but I’ve been training for the last few weeks and recently ran 2 miles without stopping! Running is hard but when I want to stop I just think about the animals and it helps me to keep going. I bet if you have a pet at home or one when you were my age you would not want your pet to be sad in a shelter while waiting to find a family. I’m willing to run as many 5ks as I need to raise this money for the animals but hope I can reach my goal by January 18th.
If you can donate, thank you! If you can volunteer at the shelter and walk the doggies, thank you! Whatever help you can offer I’m grateful. We will make a poster with names of those who have helped and have it hung in the lobby of the shelter to say “Thank you!”
