Help us help our volunteers get from the airport, to their cots on the floor of local churches and JCC's, out to the homes that need basic cleaning and rebuilding and then back again each day.
Help us help the volunteers coming from all over the USA to get to work and then maintain safe hygiene by contributing directly to the purchase of vehicles and a shower trailer. We need 10 vans capable of hauling 15 people each to ease the burden on our pickups and work vehicles allowing them to stay on site. Each of these can be purchased and delivered for approximately $20,000 and the balance is desperately needed for a new shower trailer at $30,000.
Our volunteers help homeowners by engaging in activities like “mucking and gutting” homes flooded by Harvey, removing moldy interiors or safe demolition for buildings that are dangerous. Once back, these tired teams have basic hygiene needs which includes a shower. With the huge numbers of homes lost or inhabitable, any demand we place on local housing takes it away from helping families get back to work and school so we fend for ourselves in all respects including showers. Our work here is measured in years so we are having a second shower trailer built over the coming 6 weeks to ease the strain on the improvised camping style showers currently deployed and which we use all over the world.
