A Van For Laura, Mission Accomplished!!!

Donation protected
WE DID IT!!!!  Laura and the Andrews family are getting their new wheelchair accessible van!!!  Many thanks to all who supported our effort!  We are Team Laura!

Lifelong friends, that is what Tammy and Aaron Andrews are to my wife, April, and I.  I have known Aaron and Tammy since our middle school days in the Hueytown area.  Today, Aaron and his family go to church with us at Anderson Church of Christ in Anderson, Alabama.  Aaron is actually our preacher.  Aaron and Tammy have 3 children and one is a new born.

Aaron and Tammy's 10 year old daughter, Laura, had 3 strokes prior to birth and has been diagnosed with cerebral palsy, developmentally delayed, and has epilepsy (Read more of Laura's story by clicking here).  Laura is unable to walk and is confined to a wheelchair. She travels in her wheelchair everywhere she goes.  As you can see, if you watched the video at the top of the page, Laura loves to have fun and play, but Laura has to have special equipment to make her life, as well as the lives of her caretakers, more enjoyable and safer.  As Laura grows the need for equipment upgrades become necessary and it's very expensive!  I saw that Aaron and Tammy were looking for a new wheelchair accesible van for Laura and I thought that we could help them with one big expense that they were facing.  The purchase of this van, through donations, will allow them to focus on other very important equipment that Laura needs like a stander, a suction machine, and converting their bathroom into handicapped accessible.  The van they currently have will soon be unsafe for her to travel in. The Andrews need a new van in the next couple of months.  Simply put, as a friend of the Andrews, I want to help relieve the burden of having to worry about how they were going to pay for this special van that fits Laura's needs.  When Tammy and Aaron transport Laura, I want them to be able to get Laura in and out of the van without any safety concerns.  These concerns will be alleviated with an upgraded van!  I have seen many people have great success with their causes, so I mentioned that I wanted to set one up for them.  It took them a couple of weeks to give me the okay, but they did and here we are!  I have also created a Team Laura Facebook page!   This is a very deserving family and I hope that you will see fit to help them in this need for a van for Laura.  You can contribute through this site (www.gofundme.com/vanforlaura) or the "Laura Andrews Fund" at any Bank Independent location.  Special thanks to Griffin Mobility in Hartselle, Alabama, for their willingness to work with the Andrews family to help get Laura the van she needs, WAAY 31's Breken Terry for sharing Laura's story on air (Click here for the WAAY 31 story w/video), and www.1213online.org for matching funds of $2,500 early on in our fundraiser.
