Hello and thanks for checking out our campaign! We are the family of Alex Lytwyn and we are looking for your help.
Alex is an amazing young man who has cerebral palsy. He is a man with a huge heart and has made his life be one that does good deeds for others. Alex has spent, literally, almost all his life, fundraising for others and serving on committees to provide as much betterment, as he is able to accomplish.
He lives with many restrictions, but he doesn’t complain. He perseveres and always takes the time to make someone smile, laugh and let them know that someone cares. He doesn’t let his disability control his life, but unfortunately much of it is out of his control.
One thing he does desperately need is a new wheelchair accessible van. Presently he has a 2003 Ford Econoline that has 189,000 km. It also has broken air conditioning, peeling paint, broken interior pieces, poor heat, cracked windshield, severe rust, brake lines that are about to go and many other things. Our mechanic says it will be thousands of dollars for repairs. It’s just too old. We simply cannot afford that and neither can Alex. He lives on Income Assistance and has his budget planned down to every penny. But, oh, what we would give to know, that he is safe when travelling and not worried about breaking down on the highway. He has to have a driver with him, but it is a very scary thought, especially with our prairie winters, that something might go wrong.
So, here is where we ask for your help. Our goal of $70,000.00 would cover the cost of a beautiful new van with the lift installed and ready to go. Any dollars left over will be put into an account for Alex to pay for gas and insurance. If you can share any amount of donation toward our goal, then thank you from the bottom of all our hearts. If you cannot donate, we ask one thing of you….the next time you see a person in a wheelchair, take the time to say hello, to open a door or look them directly in the eyes and ask how they are doing. Believe us, that little bit of compassion can truly make a difference in that person’s life.
