Dearest friends, family, and fans,
Our beloved husband, dad, and musician Van the Man, entered into his eternal home on Tuesday, November 17th, 2020. Although not a household name nationally, Van Broussard is legendary in South Louisiana for his contribution to Swamp Pop music. He will always be remembered as a humble musician who enjoyed entertaining crowds at countless venues and festivals across the South.
His unexpected passing has left us heartbroken. Our spirits have been lifted hearing stories of how much his music influenced your lives. We've heard his was the song playing when a couple had their first kiss and how he entertained many a crowd at numerous weddings. Hearing these stories now, helps our family remember that our weekends spent backstage or away from home as we followed our dad was worth the sacrifice.
Many of you have reached out to offer your condolences and ask how you can help us. Please know we appreciate every story shared and every prayer prayed.
Music has always been our family's sole source of income. Due to my dad's declining health in recent years, he was unable to perform as often as he would have liked. His limited income and mounting medical expenses allowed for a modest lifestyle, which was more than enough for my parents.
Should you feel inclined to "tip the musician" one last time, your generous gift will help us pay for his funeral expenses, and give our Van one last well-deserved tribute for our Louisiana Legend.
