Juan Pablo is 10 years old and is a very brave boy. When he was born he suffered pneumotorax (collapsed lung) and had to operate it.
At the age of two and a half he got meningoencephalitis, but thanks to God he was able to emerge victorious from these two battles.
Last year, after suffering severe headaches, dizziness, vomiting, and blurred vision, for several months, and after having passed through different specialists, he was diagnosed with Idiopathic Endocranial Hypertension Syndrome without Papilledema.
It is unknown what the causes are and there are only 2 known cases in the world without papilledema and very small ventricles, being that of Juanpa the only known in Peru.
Juanpa was operated on and placed a medium pressure peritoneal lumbo valve, and after almost 3 months of hospitalization, 10 lumbar punctures and 3 operations, he left high but without any improvement.
Unfortunately, in March of this year, Juanpa had a strong relapse, was hospitalized again and finally the doctors recommended that he be treated and operated abroad since all the medical options in Peru have been exhausted.
The risk of not operating Juanpa, apart from the terrible pain and symptoms he suffers, is that it could cause damage to the optic nerve, causing permanent blindness, and even endangers his life if the problems of irrigation continue.
That is why, after evaluating different options in the world, on Wednesday May 17 Juanpa along with his parents are traveling to Bologna - Italy so that he can be operated in the clinic "BELLARIA", specialized in Neurology.
To date, the parents have already spent more than US $ 140,000.00 between interventions in Peru and the USA. This amount went out of own resources and generous donations of friends and relatives.
Currently they need to cover the costs of the operation and recovery in Italy which amount to $ 365,000 and that is why the friends of Guillermo and Annita have created this group to be able to help them financially, since they do not have the necessary amount nor with An international insurance.
Juan Pablo tiene 10 años de edad y es un niño muy valiente. Cuando nació padeció neumotorax (pulmón colapsado) y tuvieron que operarlo. A los 2 años y medio le dio meningoencefalitis, pero gracias a Dios pudo salir victorioso de estas 2 batallas.
El año pasado, luego de sufrir fuertes dolores de cabeza, mareos, vómitos, y vista borrosa, durante varios meses, y luego de haber pasado por diferentes especialistas, fue diagnosticado con el Síndrome de Hipertensión Endocraneana Idiopática sin Papiledema. No se sabe cuales son las causas y hay solo 2 casos conocidos en el mundo sin papiledema y ventrículos muy pequeños, siendo el de Juanpa el único conocido en el Perú.
Juanpa fue operado y le colocaron una válvula lumbo peritoneal de presión media, y despues de casi 3 meses internado, 10 punciones lumbares y 3 operaciones, salió de alta pero sin mejora alguna.
Lamentablemente, en Marzo de este año, Juanpa ha tenido una fuerte recaída, fue internado nuevamente y finalmente los médicos recomendaron que sea tratado y operado en el extranjero dado que ya se agotaron todas las opciones médicas en el Perú.
El riesgo de no operar a Juanpa, muy aparte de los terribles dolores y síntomas que padece, es que podría generarse un daño en el nervio óptico, causándole ceguera permanente, e incluso se pone en riesgo su vida si es que continúan los problemas de irrigación que padece.
Es por ello, que después de evaluar distintas opciones en el mundo, el miércoles 17 de Mayo Juanpa junto con sus papas están viajando a Bologna – Italia para que pueda ser operado en la clínica “BELLARIA”, especializada en Neurología.
A la fecha los papás ya han gastado más de US$ 140,000.00 entre las intervenciones en el Perú y USA. Este monto salió de recursos propios y generosas donaciones de amigos y familiares. Actualmente ellos requieren cubrir los costos de la operación y recuperación en Italia los cuales ascienden a $365,000 y es por ello que los amigos de Guillermo y Annita hemos creado este grupo para poder ayudarlos económicamente, ya que ellos no cuentan con el monto necesario ni tampoco con un seguro internacional.
