VALPLAST is the first company in Haiti which is recycling plastic waste (Low-density polyethylene (LDPE) and Polyethylene terephthalate(PET) and turning it into sustainable construction materials.(blocks, bricks, and pavers)VALPLAST was founded in 2019 by a young Haitian woman, Nel-Ange ST CYR, who is 23 years old. She is studying Agronomy (Environmental Protection) at Quisqueya University in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.   You can read more about Nel-Ange and Valplast's story at Beyourchange website

At VALPLAST  we are committed to sustainability, which is why we recycle plastic waste from the streets and turn it into sustainable product's which will be useful for paving unpaved roads, houses, car parks, etc. Our plastics recycle company brings innovation to road construction and other products to Haiti.

We already have recycled 1000kg of plastics, and built prototypes of pavers and tested them in the National Laboratory of Building and Public Works of Haiti. Our product offers better traction: 7 Mpa and 8 Mpa of resistance. and our products cost less than our competitors.

For the moment, we have volunteers in the company and we are using traditional non sustainable technology for manufacturing. You can help us to better establish the company while participating in the protection of the environment, and job creation in Haiti.

We, VALPLAST, have faced challenges in our current process, which Nel-Ange, our founder explains in this Beyourchange website article: "Valplast is still using traditional technology to transform waste into building materials. The company is not able to recycle a lot of plastics per day. Only 28kg of plastics can be recycled per day with our current technology. Our big challenge is to change the technology into industrial technology where we can recycle up to 100kg of plastic waste per day."

The next technology we are implementing is Precious Plastics technology.   Their mission as stated on their website.   "Precious Plastic exists to reduce plastic waste.  Sometimes we do it through boosting recycling. Sometimes through new biodegradable materials.  Some other time by adopting zero waste lifestyles. Whatever works.   Our solutions see people as the key element to fix the plastic mess.   Precious Plastic approaches count on people to bring about the necessary change.  Small steps, multiplied by millions. That's where we can win our battle.   We don't believe in techno-utopian, fix-it-all, dream technology."

We are looking to purchase two machines, a plastics shredder and an extruder from a company who make Precious Plastics technology machines and also moulds to make products using recycled plastic.

Shredder Pro  Plastic waste is shredded into flakes which will be used in the other machines to create new things. You can select the output size of these flakes by changing the sieve inside the machine to create different patterns and processes.

Extrusion v4Lydia  - Plastics extrusion is a high-volume manufacturing process in which raw plastic is melted and formed into a continuous profile. Extrusion produces items such as pipe/tubing, weatherstripping, fencing, deck railings, window frames, plastic films and sheeting, thermoplastic coatings, and wire insulation. This is a popular Precious Plastics extruder, perfect for labs, small enterprises; updated for a bigger screw and motor.

Moulds V4 Open Brick Mould  - Full set - Triple brick mould, single mould and nozzle.

Total:  10,157 Euro :  11,963 USD

Distribution of funds from the Gofundme site:
The funds collected are only for Valplast's use in Haiti.  Because Haiti is a country not supported by Gofundme site,  I, Adrien Paquin, a board member for Valplast living in the United States, will be transferring money to Valplast (specifically Nel-Ange St.CYR) on a periodic basis and updating on this site the date, the amount, and updating the status on the final purchase of the equipment for Valplast.  Depending on the money transfer process to Haiti, there could be a small percentage to cover transfer fees to Haiti.   Depending on the currency exchange rate, the purchase of equipment could occur from US to another country.  If this occurs, then this will be noted also in the gofundme notes, and the final purchase of the equipment for Valplast.
