INTRODUCING SUMMER CAMP TO URUBAMBA, PERU
This Go Fund Me Page is raising funds to offer two one-week sessions of summer day camp to children in the Sacred Valley region of Peru. 9 am to 4 pm, Mon, Feb 5 to Fri, Feb 9 and Mon, Feb 12 to Fri, Feb 16
Summer camp is an important, life-changing experience for young people. Campers develop friendships, spend time outdoors, and sing silly songs without fear of judgement. They learn how to get out of their “comfort zones,” be leaders, and become better communicators. Campers deepen their connection with the natural world. Camp is an incredible experience where everyone belongs and happy memories are made.
Outdoor Education Peru, an organization based in the Cusco region that promotes opportunities for stewardship and adventure in nature, aspires to bring the magic of summer camp to the local community in the Sacred Valley of the Incas, Urubamba. Valley Camp will offer many classic camp activities: songs, games, arts & crafts, and team-building exercises.
Valley Camp will also include activities that focus on teaching conservation and instilling the seven Leave No Trace principles. As Peru’s tourism grows, there is a greater need for protection of the beautiful and pristine wilderness. We believe that educating the youth of Peru will support this important cause.
Campers will come from many parts of the Sacred Valley including small farming communities, remote Andean villages in the mountains, and the small town of Urubamba. These children are from a range of socio-economic backgrounds. Many families are excited for this opportunity; some can easily afford tuition, while others, like those who work in the local markets, will not have the funds.
Outdoor Education Peru humbly asks for your financial help to make this camp program possible for every child who would like to participate.
Camp tuition is $100 USD per week for one child. This includes: transportation, lunch and snacks, materials for classes, a t-shirt for arts and crafts, wages for staff, and one outdoor excursion. Every donation is appreciated and will go far in Peru!
In addition to covering general camp expenses, Outdoor Education Peru would like to offer scholarships to 15 children per week -- that’s 30 children who will be able to experience camp that otherwise would not.
Here are ways your financial contribution will enhance our program:
$5 - Arts & Crafts materials
$10 - Gear and supplies for outdoor activities
$20 - Transportation for one week
$30 - Food and snacks for one week
$50 - Partial scholarship for one camper
$100 - One full week of camp for one camper
