Valle Family struck with tragedy - Burned kids

Three weeks ago on May 16th the Valle Family was struck with a horrible tragedy.

Juan Valle his wife Rocio and their kids Valentina (7), Abel Santiago (10) y Juan Alonso (16) were on their way back home to San Diego when a drunk driver crashed their vehicle from behind causing Juan’s car to catch on fire.

Juan Valle passed away on the fire as he was not able to get out of the car. Rocio was taken out alive with third degree burns to 80% of her body but unfortunately she also passed away the next day.

Valentina (7 yrs old), Abel Santiago (10 yrs old) and Juan Alonso (16 yrs old) suffered serious burn injuries and are currently at a hospital in San Diego.

Juan Alonso turned 16 while at the hospital. He has undergone a surgery on his left hand and will shortly have surgery on his right hand. He has a mesh on his body. He told one of his uncles that it hurts, but that he will stay strong for his younger siblings.

The woman who was driving under the influence left the accident unharmed.

As soon as the kids are able to leave the hospital, the Grand parents will be the ones taking care of them.

Jeronimo and Maria Luisa (Maternal Grandparents) have temporarily left their Jobs (selling Candy) to Support the kids and Margarita (Paternal Grandmother) is also supporting taking care of the kids and is not currently working.

Juan (Dad †) worked 2 jobs as a cashier at a gas station in San Diego to support his kids and Rocio (†) was a stay at home mom.

Juan (†) donated his only day off in San Diego to go to Tijuana and train a youth Soccer team. He supported the soccer community coaching a low income team in Tijuana. He gave his all to the team, which sometimes included using his own funds to support the kids.

Their uncle Armando who also works at a gas station is currently paying for all the expenses and trying to provide for meals, gas, utilities, etc.

Juan and Rocio’s immediate family and friends started a campaign to raise funds which will be used to pay for the Funeral services of Juan and Rocio, upfront medical needs as well as legal support.

Those funds will provide immediate support to the kids, but will not help support the future needs of subsequent surgeries, living expenses, medical needs, psychological support food and education.

Valentina, Abel and Juan’s future is currently filled by uncertainty, therefore, the San Diego-Tijuana community are launching a second campaign with the sole purpose of providing needed future support for the kids.

The Mexican consulate is supporting the family with legal advice, psychological support and all the legal support with the US Government requirements.

Hace tres semanas, el 16 de mayo, la Familia Valle sufrió una horrible tragedia.

Juan Valle, su esposa Rocío y sus hijos Valentina (7), Abel Santiago (10) y Juan Alonso (16) regresaban a San Diego cuando un conductor ebrio chocó su vehículo por detrás y provocó que el auto de Juan se incendiara.

Juan Valle falleció en el incendio al no poder salir del auto. Rocío fue sacada con vida con quemaduras de tercer grado en el 80% de su cuerpo pero lamentablemente también falleció al día siguiente.

Valentina (7 años), Abel Santiago (10 años) y Juan Alonso (16 años) sufrieron graves quemaduras y se encuentran actualmente en un hospital de San Diego.

Juan Alonso cumplió 16 años mientras estaba en el hospital. Ha sido operado en su mano izquierda y pronto será operado en su mano derecha. Tiene una malla en su cuerpo. Recientemente le dijo a uno de sus tíos que le dolía, pero que se mantendría fuerte por sus hermanos menores.

La mujer que conducía bajo los efectos del alcohol salió ilesa del accidente.

Tan pronto como los niños puedan salir del hospital, los abuelos serán quienes cuiden de ellos.

Jerónimo y María Luisa (abuelos maternos) han dejado temporalmente sus trabajos (vendiendo dulces) para apoyar a los niños y Margarita (abuela paterna) también está apoyando el cuidado de los niños y actualmente no está trabajando.

Juan (papá †) tenía dos trabajos como cajero en una gasolinera en San Diego para mantener a sus hijos y Rocío (†) era ama de casa.

Juan (†) donaba su único día libre en San Diego para ir a Tijuana y entrenar a un equipo de fútbol juvenil. Apoyó a la comunidad del fútbol entrenando a un equipo de bajos ingresos en Tijuana. Juan dió todo al equipo, lo que a veces incluía usar sus propios fondos para apoyar a los niños.

Su tío Armando, quien también trabaja en una estación de servicio, actualmente paga todos los gastos y trata de proporcionar alimentos, gasolina, servicios públicos, etc.

La familia inmediata y los amigos de Juan y Rocío iniciaron una campaña para recaudar fondos que se utilizarán para pagar los servicios funerarios de Juan y Rocío, las necesidades médicas iniciales y el apoyo legal.

Esos fondos brindarán apoyo inmediato a los niños, pero no ayudarán a cubrir las necesidades futuras de cirugías posteriores, gastos de manutención, necesidades médicas, apoyo psicológico, alimentación y educación.

El futuro de Valentina, Abel y Juan está lleno de incertidumbre, por lo tanto, la comunidad de San Diego-Tijuana está lanzando una segunda campaña con el único propósito de brindar el apoyo futuro necesario para los niños.

El consulado mexicano está apoyando a la familia con asesoramiento legal, apoyo psicológico, permisos humanitarios y trámites ante autoridades estadounidenses.
