In life, you dont have the luxury or option to pick who your parents are. My parents were not perfect, and rustled with their own demons as we all do, but no one could say that they didnt have a tremendous amount of love for me and my family! My father is deceased, and I found out on 10/9/17, exactly two months before my birthday that my caring mother had passed away.

Early on in my life, my mother had to deal with raising me and my two older brothers while facing her own personal struggles and battles. I was the youngest at the time, which meant I needed to be looked after the most. My mother questioned her ability to take care of me, because of her own life struggles and worries that crept in on a young mother. All she ever wanted was the best for my brothers and I, as any mother would. One day she gathered up enough strength and courage to change the entire trajectory of my life with one decision. She left me with an aunt and never returned back to get me. That aunt eventually turned me over to her mother which would later go on to be known to me as my grandma.

From the age of 2 to 18, I was raised by my loving 65 year old grandma - Sarah Winston. That was until she passed away my first week of college at Richard Bland. Unfortunately, I've experienced a great amount of loss in my life at such an early age, but those tuff times has molded me to be the man I am today. When my mother left me, she didnt leave me empty-handed; she left me with her blessings, love, dreams, hopes, and I cant forget her beautiful smile that brigtens up any room she graces her presence with.

I believe that if my mother would have not been selfless enough to leave me with family; I would either be running the streets, locked up behind bars, or in an early grave just based on how easy it is for one to become a product of their environment. God, the prayers from my grandma, and the faith of my mother is what has gotten me thus far.

The family and I are now in the process of setting up funeral arrangements for my mother, and we are looking to have her service within a week. The problem is that my mother did not have any insurance, so it is limiting our options for giving her the proper burial she deserves. My mother gave me life, and I would not be here if it wasent for the steps she took. All I want to do is show my mother how much I love her by laying her to rest with the dignity and respect that anyone else would want for their loved one. I ask that if this story has touched you, or you feel as though I have touched your life in any possible way; please give from your heart and show your love for not only me, but more importantly for my mother and my family.

As more details come from the family, I will update this page and keep everyone informed.
