As almost most of you know my mother has been battling the aftermath that stage 4 oral cancer has left behind. While we are happy she is cancer free, Laurie has still had a tough road. Tomorrow August 17th my mom will be having her 15th surgery.
In December of 2016 we decided to have her jaw replaced for the third time by Tulsa, Oklahoma Cancer Center of America. The surgery was 18 hour long. It involved bone transplants, vein transplants, skin transplant, new jaw construction and a GI tube.
Finally this Jaw is taking!! The healing process has been tough! Laurie is on some hard medication, she hasn't eat anything in over a year. She takes everything through her GI tube.
We still have more surgeries ahead of us, and she will need teeth implants as well.
Recently my parents insurance rejected the last surgery that was completed in June and has rejected the surgery she is having August 18th. This is tough. Heartbreaking. My mom wanted to cancel the surgery but my dad insisted that she have it, and we would find a way to pay for it.
I'm not sure how this journey will end but I'm asking for help once again. The money I'm trying to raise will help pay for their fuel that they use going to Tulsa for treatment. It will also help make minimum payments while we fight with the insurance.
My parents have to pay $4000 out of pocket every year plus a co-pay for each one of my moms 26 medications. That's just the basics Insurance will not cover new teeth at all!
