Melissa's Medical Fund

All of you know Melissa's journey to be cancer free.  In the last four years, she has survived Leukemia and a bone marrow transplant.  Presently, she is experiencing adverse side effects from the transplant and the continuous intake of strong medications. 

Melissa's passion for life keeps her going strong.  She is deeply committed to her work at the Veteran's Hospital with the soldiers who suffered physical and emotional trauma during battle.  Even when she was experiencing complications from the medications, she continued to work with the soldiers, and putting aside her own needs. 

The doctors have pushed her to take 6 months off to help her recover and to better control the adverse side effects from the medications and the bone marrow transplant.  Some of this time is without pay and dependant on the generosity of co-workers to donate their vacation time to Melissa.  In addition to not having an income to cover her living expenses, during these months, her medical bills for the on-going medications, weekly therapy sessions, and regular doctor visits continue to mount.

Today, we are reaching out to our community of friends and family to help Melissa get better and to support her during this mandatory time of healing and recovery.  Melissa has made it this far because of all the continuous love, friendship, and support you have provided in the last four years.  The money you donate will help cover medical bills and basic expenses during this required leave from employment.
