Hello Friends & Family,
I wanted to take a moment and share some information about me. As you may know, I graduated from Mare Island Technology High School last year. I am happy to say that I earned a diploma and have decided my next step is to attend college. After discussing my options with my parents, we decided it was best that I attend a junior college to get my lower division classes out of the way with minimum expenses. I did not attend classes in the fall last year because I also decided to join the Army's National Guard. It was important to me to serve my country, begin setting up security for myself and to make my parents proud. As a result, I spent the last 7 months attending BASIC and AIT - these are the formal training programs that made me a soldier and National Guard Reservist. Since I've been home, I have met with my college counselor and planned to attend the late session for this spring semester. That did not happen. I got really sick! I came down with a bout of "Walking Pneumonia".

My mother took me to the hospital 3 different times and called the paramedics. They did not take me to the hospital because everyone is afraid of COVID-19. My mom ignored their suggestion and took me back to the hospital. Good thing she did. They admitted me immediately! I was in the hospital for 5 nights and 4 days. My pain was really bad and they tested me twice for COVID 19 a.k.a. the corona virus. Thank God my test came back negative!!!
Since I am now on the mend, I am anxious to get back to my pursuit of higher education. Until I am fully healed, I cannot participate with my Guard unit or get a part time job. But, I am ready to register for Summer School. Because of the COVID-19, it is most likely that I will need to attend classes on-line. To be ready for classes, I need a computer. I am hoping that you would consider making a donation to help me purchase a new laptop. My goal is $1,500 so I can buy a new fast operating computer that will last throughout my college career. I graduated high school with 18 college credits, so I am already ahead of the game and committed to completing my undergraduate degree!
